How this newsletter got the name, Kachemak Currants, has been questioned in the past and we received, the definition of a “currant” from an anonymous reader. The name was chosen from entries submitted through a contest and the selection process was conducted by City Council.

HOMER HAS A JUNK CAR PROGRAM
Homer’s Junk Car Removal Program is ready for junk vehicles!
The program covers the cost of removing the fluids from one passenger, van or pickup that is within the city limits. If you need help getting the vehicle to the disposal site, there is a reduced tow fee of $50.

~Regular Meetings~
The following meetings are held in the City Hall Council Chambers or Conference Room:
City Council – Regular Meetings are the second and fourth Mondays of every month, begin at 6:00 p.m. Prior to each Regular Meeting is a Committee of the Whole Meeting from 5:00 to 5:50 p.m. Special Meetings are held from 4:00 p.m. to 4:50 p.m. or earlier if needed.
Parks/Recreation Advisory Commission - Regular Meetings are held the third Thursday of the month May through September and Every Other Month October through April, begin at 6:30 p.m. Terms are for 3 years and expire on 10/31 of the designated year.
Advisory Planning Commission - Regular Meetings are held the first and third Wednesday of every month, begin at 7:00 p.m. Terms are for 3 years and expire on 07/01 of the designated year.
Port/Harbor Advisory Commission - Regular Meetings are held the fourth Wednesday of every month, begin at 5:00 p.m. Terms are for 3 years and expire on 02/01 of the designated year.
Economic Development Advisory Commission - Regular Meetings are held the second Tuesday of every month, begin at 6:00 p.m. Appointments expire on 4/15 of the designated year.
Library Advisory Board - Regular Meetings are the first Tuesday of every month, begin at 6:00 p.m. Terms are for 3 years and expire on 04/01 of the designated year.
Transportation Advisory Committee Regular Meetings are held quarterly on the third Tuesday at 5:30 pm, February, May, August, and November.
Public Arts Committee Regular Meetings are quarterly on the third Thursday of February, May, August and November at 11:00 am. Worksessions are held 10:00 a.m. monthly.
Permanent Fund Committee Regular Meetings are held quarterly, the second Thursday of the month at 5:15 p.m.
Lease Committee Regular Meetings are held quarterly, the second Thursday of the month at 3:00 p.m. except January and April it will be on the 4th Thursday.
