VOTER REGISTRATION

 

FOR OCTOBER 6, 2009 REGULAR CITY ELECTION

 

Voter registration will close, Sunday, September 6, 2009.  The Clerk's Office will provide voter registration Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.  The last date to register to vote at the Clerk's Office for the October 6, 2009 Regular Election is Friday, September 4, 2009.  Registration will also be available on Saturday, September 5th at the Homer Public Library from 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. YOU MUST BE REGISTERED AT LEAST 30 DAYS PRIOR TO AN ELECTION TO BE ELIGIBLE TO VOTE IN THAT ELECTION. ONCE YOU ARE REGISTERED AND REGULARLY VOTE YOU DO NOT NEED TO RE REGISTER.

 

                                                     VOTER QUALIFICATIONS

 

Homer City Code ' 4.05.010: A person is qualified to vote in a municipal election who:

(a) is a Citizen of the United States;

(b) has passed his/her 18th birthday or is such other age as prescribed by law** for voting in state elections;

(c) has been a resident of the municipality for 30 days immediately preceding the election;

(d) is registered to vote in state elections at a resident address  (specific location of residency) within the municipality (City of Homer) at least 30 days before the municipal election at which the person seeks to vote;

 

Homer City Code ' 4.05.030 state laws** - AS 29.26.050 - (a) A person may vote in a municipal election only if the person:

(1) is qualified to vote in state elections under AS 15.05.010;

(2) has been a resident of the municipality for 30 days immediately preceding the election;

(3) is registered to vote in state elections at a resident address  (specific location of residency) within the municipality (City of Homer) at least 30 days before the municipal election at which the person seeks to vote; and

(4) is not disqualified under Article V of the state constitution.

 

Homer City Code ' 4.05.040: A person whose qualifications to vote have been questioned on the basis of a felony conviction must vote a questioned ballot. For further information contact the City Clerk's Office.
